I recently was treated to breakfast at Matt Moran’s venture, Riverbar & Kitchen, located down on Brisbane’s Eagle St Pier.
To begin with, the location is magic. The day we were there was sunny, and whilst it was early, I can’t think of a better place to be in the am having a coffee and breakfast with a group of my colleagues. The setting inside the cafe is casual seaside cafe, which works well in the location. I loved the vintage signs, wooden boxes and the rustic ceramic plates and contrasting sophisticated coffee cups. This place definitely has its styling going on!
There is no table service, so it’s a matter of perusing the menu and going to the bar to order all drinks and food. Prices are okay, but probably on the more expensive side for some things. But when you consider the location and see the size of the dishes you know why though, there are massive. If you’re not a big eater my tip would be to share something together.
As a group our feed back as a whole was that the food was nice, although very salty, massive meals which have left us thinking we won’t need lunch, and that the coffee was quite average.
All in all, a great spot for a catch up, worth the location alone, but probably not at the top of my list to try again in a hurry with the other breakfast offerings out there in the city of Brisbane.
