Occasionally in our house we get the urge to break out the bottles and create some cocktails. My other half is the resident bar man in the house, but last night he challenged me to make something for us and this is what I came up with thanks to a recipe on the bottle of Chambord. The cocktail is not too sweet, with a bourbon base and just enough bitters to balance the flavour. I thought it was crying out for some orange peel so after the first effort which is the classic recipe, see our tips to turn it into something altogether more.
- 60ml Bourban (I used Woodford Reserve)
- 30ml Chombord Liquer
- A few shakes of bitters
- 1 marachino cherry
Place the bourban, chombord & bitters into a shaker with ice. combine well and then serve in a lowball glass over ice and garnish with a marachino cherry.
** our second effort we added a few strips of orange rind which we twisted to release the oils. It was a devine addition.
