BBQ Salad Series: Waldorf Salad

1

Given that we are entering the barbeque season here in Australia, and many places in the northern hemisphere are enjoying their autumn, I thought it might be a good time to share some old favourites for our outdoor get togethers and for those times when the best option for dinner is a BBQ.

First off is a salad that I remember well from my childhood and always loved…. Waldorf Salad.  The sweetness of the apple and the crunchy celery combined with the nuttiness of walnuts and completed with creamy mayonnaise was a great combo for my taste buds.  Simple to make and always a favourite.

I just love salads, especially ones that look like yours. But I never make myself nice salads. It’s one of those dishes I’d rather someone made me or one that I would eat out. Odd, no? I really need to make beautiful salads more often, like once a week. This would be perfect as it looks simple yet fresh and yum!

Oh and they are so easy to make. I found when I learnt some good dressings that it made it all the easier. They can be such a great meal on their own if you have the right combination. Give this one a go, and even the carrot one I just posted today as they are a super simple way to start out. happy salad making 🙂

Yay! I made it today! Had a friend over for lunch and I just happened to have everything on hand, so I made it. I added a little olive oil and cider vinegar and it was perfect!
