It seems my birthday presents had a very distinct theme this year…. not that I’m complaining in the slightest. Food, and more specifically chocolate seemed to be the order of the day. A very delightful birthday treat indeed!
To celebrate it was only logical that I bake a chocolate cake, or in this case, cakes to help celebrate said birthday with my family that are here in Queensland.
This chocolate cake recipe is perfect for making cupcakes. The cake was moist and the portions perfect for a few mouthfuls for adults and children alike. I loved that it rose only slightly so I didn’t end up with any unsightly rising issues, but the texture was deliciously light and chocolatey.
I adapted the recipe slightly to give it more chocolate oomph at the other half’s request and thought whilst it was fun to find pockets of chocolate in your cupcake it really could be optional when you have such a rich icing coupled with this cake. Link through here for the recipe.
