The Ottolenghi Trio of Salads

I’ve been very fortunate to have most of my family visiting me in Queensland for a few weeks over Christmas.  Time spent together, and in particular at the table and in the kitchen is very precious to me.  It epitomises the wonder and pleasure that food can bring when you can share a meal of beautiful food which doesn’t have to be fancy or complicated but that delights the taste buds and stimulates interesting conversation and contributes to a convivial atmosphere.  It is at the very heart of what this blog is about for me.

To both LadyRedSpecs and my delight we both had a very food and cookbook oriented Christmas and as a consequence I thought I would share some of the beautiful and simple salads from one of her new books that we created for new years eve.

All three of these salads were sourced from Ottolenghi: The Cookbook.  We found the flavours to be wonderful and the execution of the recipes was actually very straightforward making for some impressive looking bowls of goodness without hours of sweating in the kitchen.  We served them with a shoulder of lamb marinated in garlic, lemon zest and rosemary and BBQ’d until medium well.  Served with some delicious vintage Barossa Shiraz it was a feast for the senses and a wonderful celebration.

I hope you enjoy creating these salads as much as we did.

Thank you, there is some beautiful salads in his books. I borrowed Mum’s to look through but I think I might need to get my own copy to make more of his delicious foods 🙂

I’ve got a bit of a food crush on Yotam….all his recipes work every single time and they are all so brilliantly simple. Must try the beans and snow sprouts salad that looks great.

The salad was delish. Seeing mums books was my first exposure and I was instantly intrigued. Hence me “borrowing” her book and christening it for her birthday feast 🙂 have quite a few other recipes I want to try and I think one of the books should be on our cookbook guru.
